Meet the Wordsmith

Virginia Tolles hails from South Louisiana and East Texas. After studying at Mississippi State University, Louisiana State University, and Texas A&M University, she edited for federal agencies and contractors in Washington, DC.

 

Since leaving the rat race, she has focused on researching and writing in print media and on websites. Her books include Tales Along the Way Home, The Train Home, A Part of Me, and More a Part of Me. Her websites include The Wordsmith’s Page, Remembering Jack Lord, and Memories of Hawaii Five-0. Her article, "Photographs and Copyrights", was chosen by Loyola University Chicago for inclusion on its website on digital ethics and policy. Her historical novel, Tales Along the Way Home, was chosen by The Writer’s Edge for its publications list.

 

Virginia’s hobbies include riding passenger trains, especially streamliners from the 1940s and 1950s; touring historical sites in appreciation of period architecture and preservation efforts; and exploring such inviting places as Oak Creek Canyon in Arizona, the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, and the tropical paradise that is known as HawaiÊ»i.
